The working meeting of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Abkhazia Anas Kishmaria and the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Robert Kiut was held on Thursday, July 27 in Sukhum at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia. Robert Kiut thanked Anas Kishmaria for the initiative and noted the need for constant operational interaction of the organizations' departments, since this cooperation is extremely useful in protecting the rights of citizens of the country and society as a whole from criminal encroachments. The Minister outlined the problem of the use of violence against police officers by persons suspected of committing crimes, when society reacts emotionally to a possible violation of the rights of detainees,
ignoring the violation of rights, causing harm to health and threatening the lives of law enforcement officers themselves. In turn, Anas Kishmaria thanked the Minister for promptly informing the Commissioner's office on requests sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and noted the emerging positive atmosphere of interaction. During the meeting, the parties agreed to take measures to monitor places of deprivation of liberty in the Republic of Abkhazia, as well as to maintain a permanent communication channel between the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ombudsman of the Republic of Abkhazia.
