The Ombudsmen of Abkhazia and Nicaragua reached preliminary agreements on the conclusion of an Agreement on Mutual Understanding and the beginning of cooperation between the two institutions, on Thursday, October 19, in Moscow, following the results of the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of human rights protection: exchange of best practices of Ombudsmen". The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Abkhazia Anas Kishmaria and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Nicaragua Darling Rios Mungia shared information about the work of their organizations during the first introductory meeting. During the meeting, Darling Rios Mungia noted the importance of establishing contact and starting interaction with Abkhaz colleagues. In turn, Anas Kishmaria announced that one of the priorities the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Abkhazia is the development of international relations, primarily with colleagues from countries that recognized the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Abkhazia after the Russian Federation. "I suggest that you consider visiting Abkhazia at any time convenient for you. We always welcome guests, especially from friendly countries," Anas Kishmaria said during the meeting. In turn, the Nicaraguan Ombudsman noted that it is necessary to prepare the relevant documents for the next meeting and consolidate the preliminary agreements by signing an agreement.
