From July 22 to 25, 2024 as a part of the planned activities the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Abkhazia Anas Kishmaria and her staff conducted a monitoring of places of detention, pre-trial detention and institutions for serving sentences for convicted people in order to study the conditions of detention of suspects, accused, and convicted people.

Within the monitoring, A. Kishmaria visited temporary detention facilities located in all regions of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Dranda pre-trial detention center, the temporary detention facility of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, the temporary detention facility of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia in Sukhum, as well as the Special Reception Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.
A report on the results of the monitoring will be sent to the People's Assembly - the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and will also be posted on the Ombudsman's website.
