The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Abkhazia Anas Kishmaria and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Altai Territory Anton Vasiliev signed a memorandum of cooperation.

On Wednesday, July 31, in Sukhum, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Abkhazia Anas Kishmaria signed a memorandum of cooperation and development of relations with the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Altai Territory Anton Vasiliev.
“This document is a logical component of our work to establish and develop cooperation not only with countries friendly to Abkhazia but also with regional ombudsmen of these states,” said A. Kishmaria. "We inform our friends that rights and freedom in Abkhazia are not only formally reflected in our Constitution and laws but are the most important components of the socio-political space, part of our culture, a topical discussion and information topic in the civil life of Abkhazia," the Ombudsman noted.

A. Kishmaria told A. Vasiliev about the work of the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner in the Republic of Abkhazia, the contacts with colleagues from different countries, as well as the most pressing issues of human rights activities in Abkhazia. In turn, A. Vasiliev said that he visited Abkhazia for the first time and thanked A. Kishmaria for the warm welcome. He noted the rich excursion program, thanks to which he got acquainted not only with the natural beauty of the country but also immersed himself in the history of Abkhazia. A. Vasiliev stated that cooperation between Abkhazia and the Altai Territory must be developed, interaction between ombudsmen must be increased, they must participate in joint projects and exchange experience in the human rights sphere. "I had certain expectations regarding the visit to Abkhazia but the attention and organization of the visit program exceeded these expectations," A. Vasiliev noted.
