On Thursday, December 19, in the People's Assembly - Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia, Deputy Vakhtangi Vladimirovich Golandzia was killed and Deputy Kan Valerievich Kvarchia was seriously wounded.
The death of Vakhtang Vladimirovich is a heavy loss not only for the family, relatives and friends of the deputy, his colleagues and voters, the loss of one of the worthiest politicians of Abkhazia, with a high level of trust, impeccable reputation and respect is an irreparable loss for all of Abkhazia.
I express my sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends, and to all the people of Abkhazia in connection with the tragedy that resulted in the death of Vakhtangi Vladimirovich Golandzia.
I am sure that the country's law enforcement agencies will do everything possible to ensure that the perpetrator of the crime receives the deserved legal punishment in the nearest future.
At the same time I would like to express words of support to the deputy Kvarchia Kan Valerievich, who was seriously injured during the incident. Judging by the encouraging assurances of doctors, thanks to the measures taken, the deputy's life is no longer in danger. I wish him a speedy recovery.
I consider it necessary to state that impunity for the crimes committed leads to even worse and large-scale consequences. Which we once again witnessed on December 19.
