World Refugee Day is observed on 20 June and serves as a reminder of the need to protect
the rights and dignity of people forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecu on and
violence. The day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2000 to draw a en on to
the problems of refugees around the world.
World Refugee Day is an opportunity for each of us to take a step towards understanding,
support and solidarity with those in need.
